Hoberman Rainbow Sphere Toy

Description

An object in MoMA’s collection, the Hoberman Rainbow Sphere Toy was designed in 1995 and is considered an icon of contemporary toy design. A marvel of mechanical engineering, the Hoberman Sphere toy is constructed from multi-color linked plastic struts that allow it to be expanded to over three times its compacted size. Besides being a design icon, the Hoberman Sphere Toy is also a pop culture icon, appearing on such TV shows as Saturday Night Live, The Office and Grace & Frankie. A delightful toy for home or the office, the Hoberman Rainbow Sphere Toy can be enjoyed by adults and kids, beginning at age four. It measures 5.5 to 12″, from compact to expanded.
