This Cauny Moneo Prado Square Watch is the first ever wristwatch designed by influential Spanish architect Rafael Moneo. Of the collaboration with the Portugal-based brand he says, “When Cauny asked me to design a watch, I couldn’t help but think of the two occasions on which I had designed clocks: for the Logroño City Hall and the Atocha Station. In both cases, the clock alludes to the meaning of the hours associated with the day’s passing: twelve o’clock-noon-as the day’s summit.” The perfect square shape alludes to the overall minimal design while the tall, thin Roman numerals reference ancient sundials. The distinctive straight red hands also leave a lasting impression. This numbered-edition timepiece features quartz movement, 316L stainless steel, 3ATM water-resistance and a genuine Italian Horween leather strap that’s interchangeable. The Cauny Moneo Prado Square Watch has a 30mm case, 5mm case thickness and the band measures 0.70w x 7.79″l excluding case and buckle.
