Description
Take a break with Matisse with this mug handcrafted in North Carolina.
MoMA Exclusive: Henri Matisse’s works from his 1940s cut-outs series-the subject of a groundbreaking MoMA exhibition in 2014-2015-have been reproduced on this mug from East Fork Pottery, in a color exclusive to our customers. Crafted from formed and fired stoneware in North Carolina, this mug features details from Matisse’s work Acanthes. The decal on the mug was produced in France.
The mugs’ cut-out was selected by Alex Matisse, the great-grandson of Henri and founder of East Fork Pottery. The mug is reduction-fired in large gas kilns and made for everyday use-it’s food-safe, non-toxic and made to last. Differences in glaze applications on each plate may occur, making each one a unique piece.
To prolong the life of your mug, it’s recommended that you hand wash it only, and do not put them in the microwave or oven. The Henri Matisse Acanthes Stoneware Mug measures 4.25h x 3″diam. and holds 12oz.
